Schedule Management Plan

Definition: A schedule management plan defines how changes to the schedule will be managed. It may be formal or informal, highly detailed or broadly framed, based on the needs of the project. It is a subsidiary element of the overall project plan.

Application Areas/Intended Uses: The schedule management plan is an output from the schedule development process.
Chief Advantages: By formalizing the means for managing project schedule changes, the schedule management plan helps managers avoid schedule-related problems or misunderstandings during the project.
